So by now we all know who won what right? Well if not I'll mention the winners below! But more importantly, lets look at the controversial & funny parts! Manager of the Year:Dave Roberts - Dodgers (NL) & Terry Francona - Indians (AL) No surprise with Francona, but maybe a little surprise (and straight up pissed off fans) when it comes to Roberts getting it. Apparently the Cubs and Joe Madden should just get everything this year... Okay, okay I'll stop being bitter, they deserved the World Series. I'm not even mad about their other post season awards, but I just don't like Joe Madden. If you do I can respect that, and I do agree that he helped turn things around for the Cubs.... but I don't like his managing style, I don't like how relaxed he is with his guys, I don't like the way he managed his players once they clinched, and I don't like how he managed in the playoffs. The in season stuff obviously worked for him and what do i know? I'm not a manager in the MLB. The way he managed his bullpen in the playoffs though was just dumb. He's lucky he had good enough players to bail him out. I'd love to hear the bullpen guys opinions on it. I can't imagine it would be very pleasant.. - We should give Dave Roberts some credit though, first year manager and had a heck of a run. Kudos to the Dodgers on getting Mattingly out of there. Don't even get me started on him. Cy Young Winners:Rick Porcello - Red Sox (AL) & Max Scherzer - Nationals (NL)
Most Valuable Player:Mike Trout - Angels (AL) & Kris Bryant - Cubs (NL) Kris Bryant, well what can you say? He has been the collegiate player of the year, minor league player of the year, rookie of the year, MVP, and World Series Champ. Oh, and all of that was in the last four years. Casual. You don't get all of those awards by luck. Both of these guys seem like great guys too, which makes their wins sweeter. their interviews always seem genuine and their work ethic obviously shows through with their success. Noteworthy:Corey Seager - Dodgers (NL): Rookie of the Year -- This is noteworthy because I just think he's going to be a player to watch next year. It's only going to get better.
Most importantly... Anthony Rizzo - Cubs: Social Media Star of the Year Well is there any surprise that Mr. Rizzo wins this? Before I admitted to the Cubs talent and was still in denial (yeah I'm admitting that happened..) I followed him on Twitter and would laugh for hours. #Bryzzo and #GrandpaRossy are just too good. Not to mention all of the GIFs of him and Bryant. He is a good guy too, his Foundation is great and his love for the game and his teammates makes me happy! The tweets between him, Ross, and Bryant are worth your time I promise!

I don't know about y'all, but my love for sports, especially baseball, runs much deeper than strictly the game itself. Movies, tv shows, & books about baseball are usually a big hit with me too! I've put together a small list of my favorites & suggestions of each of these for you! Enjoy! Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions to add! Feel free to add your comments below! Movies: 1. Bull Durham - If you haven't watched it, well you are missing out. It is an oldie, but one of my favorite movies. 2. Fever Pitch - First of all, any movie that Jimmy Fallon is in is automatically a favorite right? Okay maybe not, but I do love him! - The only bad part of that movie is that they filmed the ending during the Cardinals losing the 2004 World Series.. 3. Trouble with the Curve - I'm a fan of this movie because I love that Amy Adams plays a girl who knows and loves baseball. I can totally relate, plus how awesome is her role in that movie?! 4. Major League (all of them!) - Classic. Simple as that. If you're having a bad day just put on any of the Major League movies and it'll get better. Want some more? Check out Moneyball and Summer Catch. Those two are both great too! Books: 1. Stacey Borel's The Core Four, Series is one of my favorites! There are only two books out, Bender and Slider, but there are two more coming. I've reread these books even :) 2. Whatever Life Throws at you by Julie Cross - This one is a little more young adult, but I have read and reread it multiple times as well! 3. I read A LOT so this list will continue to grow I'm sure! |
