The baseball world has seen far too much tragedy over the past few years. I can't remember a time that a sport has seen such loss in such a short amount of time. Three MLB players with tremendous talent and bright futures ahead of them, gone far too soon. After hearing of the passing of Yordano Ventura this past weekend, the sad posts and tributes were everywhere baseball fans looked. The painful memories of Jose Fernandez and Oscar Taveras passings came along with this unfortunate event as well. The teammates, organizations, and fans of the Kansas City Royals, St. Louis Cardinals, and Miami Marlins have had to deal with these tragic events and carry on with baseball, lives, and (even though it seems heartless to say this) business. It's more than fan bases, and organizations that feel the pain and sadness from these events though. These players have families, and for these three, they have players throughout the MLB that they had played with for years. Seeing the affects throughout the MLB shows how close these guys really are to each other. It doesn't matter if they're lifelong teammates, share an agent, played one year together, or played as children in their home country.. they're brothers.. they're family. Sports have a way of bringing people together, both expectedly and unexpectedly. The friendships established and support given from these players is incredible to see and, while it can be seen in the happy times, it is especially apparent in during difficult times. Just imagine the future these three players could have had in the MLB.. Cy Young Awards, World Series Rings, Batting Titles, MVP Seasons, etc. You can play the what if game all day, but you cannot deny that Ventura, Fernandez, and Taveras were great players with an excitement for the future that surrounded them. Whether they were top prospects just getting their chance, or World Series champions, it is an incredible tragedy that they won't get to continue their dreams and the game of baseball is left with what ifs. My thoughts and prayers are with Yordano Ventura's family and teammates, and continue to be with Oscar Taveras & Jose Fernandez's family and teammates as well.
